Himalayan Gateway Residency

The plus point of the hotel is it's located about 5 mints from the famous Darjeeling mall. However the location is in a steep slope and the lane is situated in a steep climb from the main road(at "TV Tower"). You will have an extremely hard time climbing there along the steep with luggage, unless the car drops you right at the doorstep. Apart from that the view from the common corridor in front of the rooms is simply awesome with the mountains and the valley on view, with a part of town visible long away below. The hotel has no proper reception. For the first day the hotel kept us at another hotel just beside because as per them "the room booked for us had a malfunctioning geezer". Though I suspect overbooking on their part. Secondly, though my booking included complimentary breakfast and dinner, they initially refused to provide dinner. After some arguing and also talking * they agreed to provide only vegetarian dinner. The breakfast included toast, fried egg and banana. As far as the rooms are concerned, they were clean and quite good, so was the bathroom. Storage , mirror, tv etc were fine. Now coming to the worst part, on the day of our return there was no water in the bathroom in the early morning (5am). When I went down to the staffs, the said they can't do anything. * The hotel staff didn't also warn beforehand so that we could have stored water in a bucket. Hotel is located very near to The Mall, Rooms were Ok, but too much stinky and smelly. Outside view from the hotel was great. Management was ok. But again the rooms were not good atleast mine. Very dirty. Geyser was centrally controlled from the reception so you had to call them again and again to switch on it. Food served during lunch and dinner was ok. And, dont try to book this hotel if you get it on discount because the management might not confirm the rooms and cancel if they find that you booked the room at a discounted price. Overall just OK for the view

We booked this place during 2nd weekend of Jan 2017. This is ideal for family or group of friends.It was an awesome experience staying here. Let me summarise the pros and cons about this hotel. Pros: 1. Good view from the bedroom and dining area. 2. Very good room service 3. Good quality food 4. Helpful and friendly gesture of hotel authority. Cons: 1. You have to travel a very steep road to reach the hotel from Darjeeling Mall, Chowrasta.

It was a horrible stay there like NIGHT MARE. Hotel staffs were like Mr. India. You cant see them. You have to ask for many time for any service. Scarcity of warm water at too cold time. Never ever think to stay here. We all had a very bad experience at himalayan Gateway Residence... worst worst ...Minus Rating .....---------
