Gulab Sagar is a famous lake in Jodhpur which is duly visited by tourists finding their way to the largest city of Rajasthan state in India. The rectangular shaped lake is 150 metres long and 90 metres wide, based 6 kilometres from the Jodhpur city centre. The lake was built by Gulab Rai, the mistress of Maharaja Vijay Singh, as a huge water storage for the area in 1788. There was a different water source in the city prior to construction of Gulab Sagar, it was called “Bawri” and was later merged into Gulab Sagar. The lake is fuelled by a canal from Bal Samand Lake.
